He or She?

So, tomorrow is the big anatomy scan where we *hopefully* will find out if the baby is a he or she, as long as they aren’t too modest.

However, it has been kind of fun to guess, based on old wives tales and such. Here are the results so far… so we’ll see which methods work and which are bogus. Disclaimer: all of these methods have a 50% accuracy rate.

Also, there are actually sites on the internet that you can pay to have them tell you if your baby is a boy or a girl. Really? I cannot believe someone would pay internet strangers to make a 50/50 guess.

Or, you can buy a super special kit that will tell you the gender of your bundle of joy:

Can’t believe people actually pay for this…

Anyway, on to the old wives tales:

Old wives tale #1: Quiz on babyzone

Results: Girl

Old wives tale #2: Carrying high

Results: Girl

Old wives tale #3: 140+ heartbeat

Results: Girl (heartbeat was 159 and 160 at the last two appointments)

Old wives tale #4: Craving more salty stuff instead of sweet stuff

Results: Boy

Old wives tale #5: Chinese Predictor Chart

Results: Girl

Old wives tale #6: Drano Test–don’t worry, Chris actually added the drano outside the house, so no toxic fumes were inhaled (at least, not by me…)

Results: Clearly Boy

Old wives tale #7: Mayan Gender Prediction

Results: Boy

Old wives tale #8: Morning sickness during first trimester?

Results: Girl (most “sources” say that girls cause more morning sickness… my mom’s experience was the opposite, so who knows)

Old wives tale #9: Hairy/fuzzy tummy (kind of weird TMI, but I have noticed my belly having more blonde peach fuzz all over it…)

Results: Boy (something with the extra testosterone in the pregnant lady’s system?)

Old wives tale #10: Husband has more brothers than sisters

Results: Boy (Chris has 3 brothers, no sisters)

Old wives tale #11: Belly is straight out front, can’t tell you are pregnant from behind

Results: Boy (so far, anyway)

Old wives tale #12: Mom’s intuition

Results: Not very sure. At all. I have had two dreams with babies in them, both were boys. Not sure if that means anything, though! We’ll just say boy for this one.

Total:

Girl: 5

Boy: 7

We shall see how true some of the methods are! Big day tomorrow!
